Fraser Island Adventure Tours
Fraser Island is the world’s largest sand island, 123 km long by 15 km wide.
It was World Heritage Listed in 1992 after a bitter struggle between
conservationists, sand mining and logging interests. It is composed almost
entirely of vegetation covered sand, with over 40 freshwater lakes and
dense rainforest.
Our tours take you into the best areas of this environmentally sensitive region
and discover its precious eco-systems, abundant wildlife and natural beauty.
Throughout the day you will touch on and appreciate nature’s magnificent
paradox. Seemingly endless golden beaches encompass towering hardwood
forests, barren heathland, pristine rainforests, huge creeping sandblow
deserts, crystal clear freshwater lakes, gurgling blood red streams,
prehistoric ferns, mosaic coloured sands.

Wanggoolba Creek - home to the ancient Angiopteris
Evecta, known as the king fern or giant fern.
• These huge ferns can have fronds 6 metres or more
• Growth occurs in rainforests often near streams |

75 Mile Beach - superb golden surf beaches,
seemingly endless miles of nature’s highway.
• Flanked by the beautiful Coral Sea
• Sorry.....no time for fishing or a surf |
|
Our journey departs daily from your accommodation in a
specially designed 4WD tour vehicle - crossing by river
ferry to the spectacular 40 Mile Beach. Northward bound
we follow the seemingly endless golden beaches towards
the noted world’s largest sand island. Our trip through the
National Park has led us to Inskip Point where we board a
vehicle barge for the short crossing of the Great Sandy
Strait. Keep a lookout for dolphins, dugongs and turtles.
We’re here - 124km of fantastic beach bounded by the
blues of the Coral Sea and the greens of the forests.
Low sandy heathlands, (melaleukas, scribblies, banksias)
majestic stands of rainforests, narrow sandy tracks lead
to jewel coloured freshwater lakes and rainforest steams.
Wildlife galore: dingoes, goannas, sea-snakes and
kookaburras.
On reaching our luncheon destination it’s swimtime
followed by a delicious sizzling barbecue lunch with
fresh salads and drinks. Into the rainforest we unveil
nature’s best - a multitude of luxuriant palms, cycads,
ferns and hanging vines; Piccabeen, macrozamia,
angiopteris, strangler figs. All these and
more. Time to casually stroll and marvel
at the beauty, variety and lushness.
As all good things come to an end, we
are soon homeward bound through the
tall forests of gunbarrel
straight satinay and kauri
timbers. Then down the
sandy highway and home
in time to catch yet another
beautiful Queensland sunset. |
